LANACCESS PRODUCTS PROTECT HUNDREDS OF CONTROL
SUBSTATIONS ALONG 9,000 KM OF GAS PIPELINES

ENAGAS PROFILE

ENAGAS is the Common Carrier of for the high pressure gas network and Technical Manager of the Gas System in Spain.
The gas transport netowork includes close to 10,000 km of high-pressure gas pipeline over all the Spanish territory, two underground natural gas storages, three regasification plants and around 200 substations. Enagas has the commitment of guaranteeing continuity and safety in natural gas supply and the correct coordination of access points, storage, transport and distribution.

ENAGAS REQUIREMENTS

ENAGAS substations are broadly distributed throughout the territory and in many cases in a difficult access locations. Each substation is equipped with around 8 video cameras to monitorize the state and record video image to prevent and react against intrusions, vandalism or attack. ENAGAS wanted reliable videorecorders, with minimum maintenance and ready for unattended operation and remote management. The last requirement was a tool to continuously supervise the installed base to have the confidence that the recorded video would always be available when needed after an incident.

LANACCESS SOLUTION

According to ENAGAS requirements, LANACCESS provided them with an embedded recording and transmission system with flash memory storage. Each installed videorecroder supports up to 12 cameras and has programmed tasks to automatically switch lights on and start a siren when an intrusion sensor is activated. The equipment installed in the substations are remotely controlled and supervised from a national control center.

The control center communicates through IP with the substations to get real time or recorded video and receive alarms. The video transmission takes full advantage of the available bandwidth to ease operators work.

LANACCESS PRODUCTS PROTECT 800 ELECTRIC SUBSTATIONS
FOR THE BIGGEST SPANISH ENERGY GROUP

IBERDROLA PROFILE

IBERDROLA is the world leader in wind power, one of the top electric utilities in the world and Spain's number one energy group. IBERDROLA is present in 40 countries across the five continents and has over 16 million of clients, 9 of them in Spain, and currently operates 5 nuclear plants in Spain.

IBERDROLA REQUIREMENTS

IBERDROLA has 800 remote electric substations, many of them in difficult access locations, that permit them know the state of the electric network and react in case of incident. Each substation is composed by a hut protected by a fence, intrusion detection sensors and videosurveillance cameras.

An access control system permits the entrance only to authorised personnel for maintenance tasks or incidents verification. A robust equipment is needed to transmit the data and remotely control the substations.

LANACCESS SOLUTION

LANACCESS proposed his IPGate product for the substations. IPGate is an intelligent serial ports to IP converter. All the substations were equipped with IPGates and all the systems could be controlled and supervised in a remote and centralized way.
